![]() Based on Charmaine LeBlanc's stage production Quarantaine 4 x 4, this film takes us through the twists and turns of the masculine identity. Four male dancers in their forties-Marc Béland, Marc Daigle, Benoît Lachambre and Ken Roy, each of them still vital, powerful and strong-confront middle age head-on. Without masks or shame, they look back at their fading youth, reflect upon mortality, reveal their vulnerabilities, hopes, regrets, dreams and demons. Without equivocation, they each deal with the choices they have made or the questions that have long troubled them, revealing in the process a fundamental need for intimacy and understanding. Quarantaine presents new ways of affirming, living and sharing one's masculinity. Interwoven into these revelations and dance solos are animated sequences, portraits created in collaboration with illustrator Pol Turgeon, inspired by famous paintings by Ingres, Munch, Bacon and Keith Haring in which the performers undergo a total metamorphosis, revealing new aspects of their personality. Biography Marlene Millar and Philip Szporer co-founded the production company Mouvement Perpétuel in Montreal in 2001, which produces dance-videos, documentaries and experimental films.
