![]() Two celebrated French comic-strip writers decided to join forces, sharing their styles and work methods to create a singular and atypical work. The rest of the story is well known. The first issue of Magasin général published by Casterman was a resounding success. This film recounts the human and creative adventures of Jean-Louis Tripp and Régis Loisel, who are working on the fourth instalment of their series in their Montreal studio. Collaborating with them are colourist François Lapierre and Jimmy Beaulieu, who adapts the dialogue into Quebec French (the story being set in the province circa 1920). Michel Laurent, a curator at the Musée des civilisations in Quebec City, offers his advice on Quebec customs between the wars. The documentary provides a fresh perspective on the creation of a comic book, from initial drafts to bookstore shelves.
